My darkest times have come. Time to read.

Не е като да съм отвикнала от "паралелното" проследяване на случващото се с няколко групи герои, но ми се струва, че в третата книга, като се превключи на поредната групичка, много бързо се случват нещата в епизода. Динамично е, но нямам предвид това. Много направо става. Много изведнъж, а в някои случаи това навява нагласеност.
Вариант е да си хвана нишките и да си ги следя известно време последователно. Така поне нишката с Киа, Рафаел и Методи върви по-гладко.
Епизодът с Елирен ми дойде малко в повече. За несигурността на Киа знам, но и нейните колебателни размисли прекалено бързо и като изотникъде се задълбочават.

Иначе докато премислях защо книгата се казва така, а не "Пророчеството", отсъдих, че второто би било обикновено и почти клиширано. Не че "Демони" не е, но разсъждавайки къде в книгата са тези демони, много бързо стигнах до извода, че почти всеки герой се бори със свои(те) демони.

Очевидно некоригирана книга. Това ми се ще за последен път да се случва, защото адски ме дразни. Пряката реч ме побърква. Наложих си да игнорирам пунктуацията й, но ако я оставим настрана, си има чисто коректорски неща.

Да не говорим за отколешния ми проблем със сравнителното като... и запетаята му, която Светлини сред сенките просто обожават... Това безумно много ми накъсва потока. Тоя проблем го имам още от Непоискано добро. Ще се надявам новото поколение Светлинки точно тази запетая да не я ползват, защото ми разваля цялото удоволствие.

Наложи ми се първите 10 страници да ги прочета два пъти, за да разбера какво се случва.
На моменти, макар и много рядко, не разбирам кой и защо си казва репликата.

Последното от тия откъслечни впечатления е че понеже тая трилогия е изградена на основата на диалога, когато се появи някакво описание, да не говорим за природно, мигам насреща, чета и почти не вдявам за какво иде реч. Налага се да превключвам на природен пейзаж, за да го осмисля ;)

Изброените ми впечатления не са нищо повече от себе си.

Сега: Безплатни книги носят пазарен успех на писател... чак в Китай

Няколко цитата:

„Голямото приключение на малкото таласъмче”, е продадена в 12 000 бройки у нас. Другите три заглавия – общо в 16 000. Освен това Райков е автор и на две настолни игри, реализирани в 4000 екземпляра.

Поведението на Райков е цяла философия: „Не всичко е пари! Би било жестоко, ако децата не можеха да се забавляват с моите книги, защото техните родители не могат да си ги позволят. Детските писатели не трябва да са алчни! Свободата е безценна”.

Оказва се, че свободно качените книги не пречат на пазарната реализация, когато носят добавена стойност (за подарък, за развитие на логическото мислене при децата в невиртуална среда и т.н.). Посредниците в контакта с публиката не са задължителни.

Част от неговия успешен модел е и договорът с Китай. Издателството Haitian Publishing House, което оперира в в икономическата зона на Шенджен, е откупило правата за цялото творчество на Райков. То ще реализира и аудио версии чрез окомплектоване на книгите с ISLI или QR код. „Това е не само огромен личен успех, но и пробив за българската литература“, казва писателят.

Съжалявам, че не мога да откликна - вече съм си намислила да ходя да гледам за Вапцаров по същото време . Добре е да се образовам, че изпити имат да се вземат.

Аз хуб'о се изхвърлих с чешките филми, ама трябва да видя колко от свалените имат английски субтитри.

Иначе "Синият тигър" съм си го купила с Лъчови крони :> за ЧоБи и мен... за мен и ЧоБи :D Там има английски субтитри. Може и немски, не знам - не е в мен да видя.

Да речем с удоволствие бих представила кратичко режисьора Карел Земан, защото едни дърти филми, дето съм му гледала, са изумително изобретателни откъм техники за анимация. Въпросът е... че това е редно да се прави с показване на кадри, а за такова нещо май не съм готова технически и би ми отнело много време. Но сигурно мога да измисля как да стане без рязане.
Ще прегледам инвентара и ще реша.

И другаде е работата - че повечето минават за детски и не знам дали пак няма да гледаме сами, ако се реши някой ден.

Hi Kaloyan. Thanks for your submission. We liked a lot about it but it didn't entirely work for us.
It does have a fun YA feel to it, but it needs a bit more work yet. Some of the dialogue is repetitive, and the wise-cracking demon is a bit stereotypical. We never learn the boy's name; he is referred to throughout as "'the boy" We'd like to see his character developed a bit. If he is skilled enough to call up the ruler of hell then he should have a bit more character and ability to vocalize in an intelligent way. And although the joke is that he's called up the ruler of hell just to destroy his school, it doesn't come off that strongly as a joke. Something more creative and interesting would hold the reader more strongly. The setting is not described, leaving the action to take place in a void. A good setting could add a lot to the atmosphere. If the book the boy is using is so inadequate, how could it have been used for a successful summoning? The ending felt a bit flat, and left no satisfying resolution.

If you wanted to revise with these points in mind we would be happy to consider this story again in a future submissions round.

Hi Kalin. We are very glad to receive work from writers in other languages, and are happy you have sent Kaloyan's story to us. We understand that the writers you translate for may not be able to communicate in English. But to accept a translated story, we would need to receive an email from the writer themselves, in their own language, stating they are giving the person they name permission to submit their story for them. Their letter would also have to state what arrangement for payment they wish. They could include a translation into English of their email.

Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah in the fifties and sixties of the prior millennium, I was an avid reader for pleasure (though not so avid when it came to homework assignments). I faithfully followed the exploits of Chip Hilton and Bronc Burnett, high-school superstars who accomplished marvelous feats on the baseball diamond and American football field, on basketball and tennis courts. I kept close company with Bomba, Boy of the Jungle, who not only survived but thrived on hair-raising adventures somewhere deep in the Congo.

But not all of my fantasies were earthbound. Another of my pulp fiction heroes, Tom Swift, Boy Wonder, had a rocket ship he had designed built himself. From one novel to the next, Tom’s inventions rivalled those of Jules Verne. Like Captain Nemo, Tom also had his own submarine. There was Mr. Peabody on the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon show, who went Tom and Captain Nemo one better. Mr. Peabody, who was an amazingly intelligent and maddeningly pedantic dog, had a time machine. With his somewhat dense human sidekick, a boy about my age named Sherman, Mr. Peabody visited many admirable and notorious figures through the ages with just the twist of a dial. Like Sherman, I was happy to go along for the ride. Whether traveling back to the past or back to the future, Mr. Peabody rocked, rolled, and ruled. He ranked right up there with Dexter and his laboratory.

Years later, I gladly signed on to the crew of the Starship Enterprise to serve under Captain Kirk and go where no one had gone before. When Kirk relinquished his command of the Enterprise bridge, I quickly reenlisted under Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Later, I dutifully followed Picard to the X-Mansion when he was reinvented with the help of Stan Lee as Professor Xavier. With classmates like the mutants Wolverine, Storm, Pyro, Psylocke, Mystique, Rogue, Jubilee, and Beast, even Muggles would dutifully do their Harry Potter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry homework.

And while we’re on the subject of superheroes, how can we ignore the entire Marvel Universe, Superman and Batman and Robin, Supergirl and Batwoman and Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern and Spiderman, and all of the indomitable Avengers? Okay, as it turns out they were more than a little domitable after Thanos got hold of the Infinity Stones and reduced lifeforms in the universe by half. But like the Terminator, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, Black Widow, the Hulk, Thor, and Jeremy Renner will all be back. Oh, yes they will, I believe they will. And with a vengeance!

Then there’s the Dark Side – and not just the darkness inhabited by Darth Vader and Darth Sidius. What about a world where human life is just sham and a pretense, where human life-forms are no more than rechargeable orga-batteries for a pandemic dark-side Tesla-Factory Purgatory controlled by artificial intelligence and the impervious machine world, with murderous muscle flexed by more Mr. Smiths than even Neo could imagine? What about the Matrix? That is no excellent adventure, Bill and Ted. Dark, yes, but also a gargantuan parable. Neo the Chosen One, the One, jacked up and jacked in, Oedipus at Colonus and Christ on the Cross. Thanks to Neo’s ultimate soul sacrifice, Here Comes the Sun, little darlings, and a new day dawns. But how in virtual reality could a slacker hacker like Neo save the human race? Even the Oracle admits she doesn’t have the answer to that one. But like Morpheus, and like all the rest of us, she believes. Because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Which brings us to the project at hand – a collocation of Bulgarian visionaries collectively known as the Terra Fantasia Association of SF&F Writers and Artists. This broadband of brothers and sisters has assembled an anthology or almanac for the ages, spanning not only ages but also a hefty chunk of the space-time continuum and the chronosynclastic infundibulum (see Kurt Vonnegut’s The Sirens of Titan ). The creative collective’s tales and illustrations stretch from irresistible good vibes illuminating and energizing a subway system to sentient, poetic winds turned street sweepers and lovelorn hats blowing in the wind, extends from butterflies tippling by rippling streams to… infinity and beyond. Even know-it-all Mr. Peabody would be gob-smacked to learn that Virgil was not only a great Roman poet and an ecologist aghast at all the deadly lead in the Roman water supply, but was also “a self-tuning bio-robot,” at least as we get to know him (it) in Svetoslav Nikolov’s “Virgil and the Water.”

And while it is all too easy these days to imagine a human future shorn of flora and fauna and reduced to cyphers in a dystopian megalopolis, who could guess that the unbearable alternative, at least for two of the grizzled survivors of climate apocalypse, would be the prospect of a three-day virtual vacation in a sweet sylvan retreat? (Spoiler alert: what they dread is not the Arcadian virtual reality. It is the prospect of three hellish days away from their bleak apartment. How will they manage without a regular cupful of the liquid-sky soma that keeps them high in their home sweet soma-homa?) Ah, Alexander Karapanchev, we weep for your addicted, terminally conflicted homunculi.

According to Valentin Ivanov in “How I Saved the World, or the Best Job,” for the über-rich there are other options. They can sign on for a cosmic über-lift Virgin Galactica style, destination an asteroid hurtling toward Earth. Once they reach their destination, they can look forward to long, tedious hours, days, and months black-washing the ominous rock, the better to aid the techies who determined to alter the hurtling Hammer’s course and, in thirty years or so, save humankind. It seems that even that far from the sphere of our sorrow, there is plenty of хамалска работа . “Whatever you do, don’t ever call your foreman Tom Sawyer. Even behind his back. Even with the radio off. He has ways of hearing you and he gets very upset. The man just thinks that painting fences is the best job ever.”

In Khristo Poshtakov’s “The Most Terrible Beast,” life beyond Earth’s orbit is red in tooth and claw; it is brutal, nasty, and short. The Cosmos is where you encounter, for starters, creatures that are “part chameleon, part horned frog and part scorpion,” with tongues some twenty meters long and mouths “so big they could easily swallow a whole man.” Thus saith Captain Ivashkevic as he bellies up to the space-bar, Hans Solo style. But as Captain Furimoto replies, puffing on his pipeful of intoxicating gas, you ain’t seen nothing until you’ve seen a giantocyplex on the planet Crypt. “Listen carefully, rookie, this is the most hideous creature in the galaxy. It weighs about a hundred tons, devours whatever crosses its path, smells disgusting, burps every five steps, and the sound of that is like a thunder striking. Its brain is the size of a pin, and if it has nothing left to eat, it attacks its own kind. That’s why we found just about a hundred specimens on the planet, raging with hunger. It goes without saying that the armor of those beasts is made up of something like ceramic plates which make even laser weapons useless, or that their teeth look like steel pillars.”

As the intrepid Furimoto recalls, taking another puff, the only remedy for these extraterrestrial pests is a small thermonuclear device served up as an appetizer. “The dumb thing just wolfed it down. In short, we rid the universe of one huge stinker.” Now there’s a tale from the crypt, or at least from the planet Crypt.

But Captain Bradley isn’t impressed. “It’s quite another story killing a plasma medusa, as we did once on Jupiter III. Imagine a pale mass as big as a city, pierced by millions of electric discharges each sec, waving around a million tentacles. Such a beauty cares about one thing only: how to turn everything in its track into energy. This plasma terror swims inside the dense atmosphere of the planet and assimilates anything and everything—from smaller medusas, storm clouds and hailstorms with stones the size of six-story buildings to the midgets roaming around the yellowish gas mixture of that sky. Its main job, after all, is reducing matter to atoms.”

And even worse than the Planet Eater is the Galaxy Destroyer, immune to all attempts to eradicate it. As Ivashkevic recalls, “the first sign of imminent doom was the appearance of an odd green light seemingly coming from nowhere. As it gradually turned violet, the stars in the galaxy exploded and created a cosmic fiery hell.” As the cosmo-barflies brood over their potions of intoxicating gas, the expanse around them gradually turns an infernal greenish-violet. And that, boys and girls, is End of Story. No greeting the dawn here. Just hop in a rocket and get the hell out of there! But alas, poor Yorick, there’s nowhere left to go. An infinite jest.

Our fathers, who art in heaven, in cemeteries, on expeditions to the Congo’s inner station, sweeping chimneys, selling cars, installing mini-blinds… We are exhorted to love our fathers and mothers – and for that matter, our neighbors and enemies. David, the Mecha-Boy replicant repository of all human being after our race has been extinguished, was programmed to love his mother forever, beyond all human bounds. Instead of retiring her, Decker chose to take his chances with another replicant, the ravishing Rachel, who may or may not have dreamed of electric sheep; we’ll never know. In Ivaylo Ivanov’s “Father”, a story told by his son who spent his childhood years in an incubator, Oliver loved his deceased father Simon, though Oliver’s memories of the man are scattered and sketchy at best. Is Dear Old Dad really dead? Or is he just playing dead, the better to live a life of crime? Even the private detectives that Oliver engages refuse to tell him the truth. Though Simon’s death certificate declares him dead as of May 29, 2081, the truth is that Dad has donated his entire body to his son, to live as long and to prosper as much as time and tide allows. We can almost hear the echoes of Oliver’s silent prayer “in sector nine, row five, in front of the small copper plaque.” “Father, author and finisher of my genetic code and my innate predispositions, I honor your memory as I stand before you, since I am you, through and through, my soul in the body that you have given me.” For the rest of his life, whenever Oliver looks into a mirror he will look into his father’s eyes.

While my interest in the writing and visual artistry on display in the embarrassment of riches that is the Terra-Fantasia Almanac knows no earthly bounds, for the purposes of this thumbnail review or reader’s response, I have limited myself to these few comments on tales from the almanac’s first section, Science Fiction . It goes without saying that the rest of the anthology, filed under the headings Fantasy and Magical Realism and Futurum , is equally worthy of praise and richly rewards close attention.

In passing, note that I employ the alternative rubric anthology , since when I think of an almanac, as an American I can’t help but recall the always-practical farmers’ almanacs, preeminent among them Benjamin Franklin’s Poor Richard’s Almanac , with its weather and crop reports, its home remedies and helpful hints about farm animals and farm equipment, always generously sprinkled with epigrams, aphorisms, and apothegms such as “Early to Bed and Early to Rise / Makes a Man Healthy, Wealthy and Wise,” or the one pasted above the locker room entrance that I passed beneath every time I suited up for football practice or football games at my high school in Salt Lake City, as I (vainly) sought to live up to the heroics of my prepubescent sports heroes: “No Pain, No Gain.” I was never quite sure what that meant. Optimistically, it could be interpreted as “make the effort and you will succeed,” or conversely, “if you don’t make the effort, you will fail.” But what if it is just a nano-statement of fact, or an injunction? “There is no point in making an effort, since it won’t do you any good.” Which in turn reminds me of a tee-shirt my father gave me ( лека му пръст ): “No Guts No Glory.” Is that to be interpreted as “Be brave and gain praise?” Or is it a bleak statement of fact: “Cowards are worthless.” If I wear that tee-shirt, am I advertising myself as a worthless coward?

But I digress. Whether we call it an anthology or an almanac, this collection is the result of who knows how many hours, days, months, and years of painstaking creative effort – including the Herculean task of translating the genius of Bulgarian into the genius of English (I use the word ‘genius’ here in the somewhat abstruse sense of ‘informing spirit’). After taking so much pain, I can only hope that the Association will reap substantial gain. And in all humility (since like Bill and Ted, I’m not worthy), I offer my heartiest congratulations and many thanks for the many excellent adventures. I can only applaud the collective’s collective efforts.

In the response that I sent you a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that for my tastes, there were a few too many very similar illustrations/works of art. Let me clarify and revise that. As you know, I was referring to the first few sets of illustrations, those that are mostly in black and white. Now that I have read through the rest of the PDF, I have come to appreciate the majority of the illustrations for their winsomeness and technical adroitness. If it were up to me (it certainly isn’t), I would still reduce the number of drawings in the science fiction section. But I wouldn’t cut very many of the illustrations after the science fiction section. Most of them strike me as unique and impressive.

As for your prose selections – whether we call the PDF collection that you asked me to read an almanac, an anthology, a representative sampling, a sampler, or a collection of “greatest hits” – I do have a few favorites. They include the droll and nimble tale, “The Dragon and the Orange Juice,” and the excerpt from To Wake a Dragon .

One reason I particularly liked these pieces was the quality of the English translations, but I also appreciated the story’s and the excerpt’s unlikely or magically real characters and the spry plots, which I found witty and life-affirming. I have to add that the “back-to-the-future-jump-cut” plot development in “The Dragon and the Orange Juice” wasn’t entirely to my literary tastes, but maybe that’s just me.

I for one would love to have a snake in my backpack that could transform itself into a beautiful woman and grant me three wishes, as in the aforementioned excerpt – a snake reminiscent of the genie in Aladdin’s lamp or Prospero’s Ariel, or even the beautiful, nubile woman qua white-snake-demon in the fabulous Chinese fable.

On the topic of excerpts. There are times when I would have chosen different excerpts, so as to end with (begin, continue with) more bang and less whimper. Sometimes the chosen passages seem to end, I suppose because there was an allotted amount of space for them and a need or a directive to fit as many of your esteemed and celebrated authors and works into the almanac/anthology as possible, so that when the allotted space was filled, the excerpt ended: poof .

For me, poof (not to be confused with Poof the Magic Dragon ) isn’t a good enough reason to make your readers applaud your choices. But again, I am just one of your many, many readers, and of course I recognize the fact that you are long-established, prodigally published collective with access to an impressively productive publishing house.

By the way, there is no verb in English “to suicide.” The (non-transitive verb) is “to commit suicide,” whether we are referring to the self-extinction that figures in the conversation between the Emily Dickinson-haunted, “suicidal” AI program and Neo, in Atanas Slavov’s “Matrix: Resolutions” – or the specter that haunts Kalin Nenov’s “Film-Thin Bound.” (Strange title, that.) I might have preferred “Bound by a Thin Film,” or maybe “Nano-Thin Boundary.” Or perhaps “Imperceptible Border,” or even “Ties that Barely Bind,” borrowing from (and subverting) the first line of a life-affirming traditional hymn that I like to sing while accompanying myself on the guitar:

Blessed be the ties that Bind
Our hearts in Christian love.
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

Even Slavov’s global AI program might appreciate that verse, if AI programs are able to appreciate things, since the program recognizes the need for a state tending toward something I might call “universal benevolence,” a phrase I borrow from an American authority on postmodernism, Ihab Hassan.

Духът напуска тялото (Сбогуване с Червената къща)

На 21 октомври 2004 година Червената къща „Андрей Николов“ отвори врати с изложбите „Духът намира тялото“ и „Прополис”. Оттогава до днес, съвместно с десетки организации-партньори, представихме 350 спектакъла, 220 изложби, 570 дебата, 330 публични лекции, 130 представяния на книги и литературни дискусии, 700 филмови прожекции, 75 човека работиха с над 900 деца и младежи в риск, създадохме една университетска образователна програма, обучихме 178 студента. Поддържахме постоянна експозиция на скулптори на нашия патрон, Андрей Николов. Орхан Памук, Дубравка Угрешич, Лари Лесиг, Тимоти Снайдър, Георги Господинов, Галина Борисова, Неда Соколовска и мн. др. са сред 2,800те имена на хора, участвали на живо в събития на Червената къща - било то като дебатиращи, изпълнители в спектакъл, художници... Редица млади артисти започнаха професионалния си път в Червената къща, за да достигнат впоследствие международно признание. Млади учени и граждански активисти навлязоха в публичното пространство благодарение на Червената къща. 500,000 бе общият ни брой публика; 56 човека работиха за организацията (открихме 20 работни места в областта на културата), обучихме 130 стажанта и доброволци; привлякохме над 5,500,000 лв. за култура (99 % от тях от чужди и частни български фондове и фондации, под 1 % от български публични средства).

Заповядайте на пресконференцията, където по-подробно ще разкажем защо при липса на подкрепа от българската държава, Центърът за култура и дебат „Червената къща „Андрей Николов“ ще трябва да затвори врати още в началото на 2015 година.

Днес „Червената къща „Андрей Николов“ е принудена да затвори врати.

Ето защо:
През 2001 с договор Министерството на културата предстови на фондация „Гъливер клиринг хауз“ сградата на ул. „Любен Каравелов“ 15 - бивш дом и ателие на големия български скулптор Андрей Николов - за срок от 10 години в замяна на инвестицията, която трябваше да направим за реставрацията, ремонтирането и оборудването на сградата.

Към датата, в която получихме сградата, тя беше изоставена и в много лошо състояние: без врати и прозорци; липсваше водоснабдяване, канализация, отопление, електричество и инсталации; боята във вътрешността на къщата беше излющена; стените бяха с трайно нарушена цялост, фасадите на къщата се нуждаеха от основен ремонт, дворът беше с унищожена настилка, без вертикална планировка и отводняване. Конструктивната част на къщата се нуждаеше от укрепване.
Фондация „Гъливер клиринг хауз” инвестира 746,479.16 лв. в реконструкцията, ремонта и оборудването на сградата, като на 21 октомври 2004 година Центърът за култура и дебат Червената къща „Андрей Николов“ отвори врати за своите зрители.
През 2011 година десетгодишният договор за ползването на сградата изтече и през 2012 г. Министерство на културата обяви търг за наемане на сградата на пазарни цени съпоставими с цените за ползването на имот за комерсиални нужди. Явихме се на този търг и го спечелихме. Така от януари 2013 година Фондацията заплаща на Министерство на културата годишен наем в размер на 79,663.68 лева. С наема дължим към частния съсобственик на сградата, годишният наем за сградата достига 93,210 лева.
Две години по-късно, не сме в състояние да заплащаме този наем. Едва ли има нестопанска организация в България, която може да си позволи такъв наем при дейност, сходна с нашата. Малко са и донорските организации, които биха счели за правилно да покриват подобен разход, като така индиректно финансират Министерството на културата.
Ние искаме Центърът за култура и дебат „Червената къща „Андрей Николов“ да продължи да работи. Просто на този етап това е невъзможно, ако държавата не ни протегне ръка.

Утре вечер е Теодосий в А6. Чува се идеално отвън и паркът зад НДК има особено уютни кътчета за "нагостяване удобно". Трябва да го изтестваме някой път, ако може – с музика. Все още не е късно да променя мястото на събитието на 10 юли :D, но по принцип не е добра практика.

I spent two years in a United World College near Trieste (Northern Italy). At some point, I hiked for a week in the mountains near Naples (Southern Italy). One day, we met a shepherd, who: 1) was an uncannily exact lookalike of Mel Gibson's William Wallace in Braveheart ; 2) spoke ... something . We didn't get a single word, although we were fairly fluent in Italian by that point. Not a familiar root, nothing. But the sounds were somewhat similar to French.

Щях да питам при сравнително съвременни романи какъв е смисълът преди изчитането на главата да чета подзаглавието преразказ с елементи на обобщение?
Преди векове е било традиция, но предпочитам в книгата ми за монетите да изчитам обобщението след самата глава, за да не знам предварително какво се случва.

"Книга апокрифи" на Карел Чапек малко ме напряга, нищо че е малка. Като едносотранчиво упражнение по стил е - как са осъдили Прометей, разговаряйки като социалистически задръстеняци; как Терсит злослови напосоки в лагера на ахейците като долна черна станция, пак тип соц. А е от 1932 г. в оригинал.
Как двойка пещерняци мърморят срещу "модата" и драсканиците из пещерите. Как се сипят обвинения в Древна Елада, без да се вниква и да се издирват доводи за и против, изслушвайки и двете страни. Има още цели 25 историйки! Не знам как ще ги преживея.

Григор Ленков много хвали превода на Светомир Иванчев от 1968 г. (вкл. "лексикални ядра и синтактични обрати" + запазени стилистични пластове и регистри).

Покрай дискусията, която водим в ЧоБи, си нахвърлям някои по-неочевидни размисли за книгата:

- Образът на Калин е практически безполезен за реалистично опознаване на „злото“ в човешките отношения. (По същия начин, по който са безполезни орките във „Властелина“.) Единственият полезен негов елемент е Калиновият стремеж към власт. В това отношение най-полезен обаче е образът на цар Симеон. „Иван“ беше първата книга, която ме замисли, че Симеон всъщност е изградил „великата“ българска държава на гърба на българския народ , съсипвайки стотици хиляди семейства с грандоманските си войни.

(Но не зная защо романът има толкова пренебрежително отношение към цар Петър, който не води никакви войни и дава 40 години покой на народа да се възстанови.)

- Тесни ли са дефинициите ни за „стоплящ текст“?

„Иван“ не просто ме стопля, докато го чета. Той ме разгаря . Кара ме да се чувствам жив – подклажда искрата на вътрешната ми сила.

Кара ме да се чувствам жив, докато ми показва на какво е способен човешкият дух – с тайните умения на колобрите, но и с всяко от стъпалата по Лествицата. Със самопревъзмогването на Иван, когато се сблъсква с най-низшите наши прояви. Със самоосъзнаването на Иван, че няма на какво да научиш другите дотогава, докато не го научиш за себе си. (Значи, до вечността?)

Кара ме да гледам с нови очи – и искрите на новото – мястото си в тая България. Кара ме да си мисля какви сме били всъщност; а какви още можем да бъдем.

А докато гледам децата Яна и Ован, направо си се усмихвам. И ми е топло.

С Абордаж днес се изчеткахме взаимно. Но първо попитах джуджу Здравко кога смята, че има смисъл да почваме да правим събития. Казва още сега, но в момента може до 25 човека. Т.е. полуприсъствено-полуlive литературно четене. Докато (ми) се избистри събитие, може и да стане за повече от 25 човека.

Четката е, че искам да занеса от магичната наливна жива медовина Meadly за рождения ден на тате на 21 декември. Увери ме, че ще има целогодишно.

Hi Kain. Thanks for your submission. We enjoyed it but it didn’t completely work for us. As requested here is some unedited feedback from our first readers; it is not meant as diplomatic critique, it is only written to help the editors as they consider the story:

-- This story is a SF/Historical Fiction piece that re-imagines Virgil as an alien biorobot preoccupied with aqueducts and Roman downfall.

-- It's... thick. The prose is heavy with metaphor and simile to the point I feel like it gets in the way of the text. For example, there's a 153-word sentence inside a 416-word introductory sentence.

-- There is a story here, but I think it probably could be 1/2 the length and get it across far better. Overall, a decent story, but way too wordy to be accessible.

-- Well written , but mostly historical fiction rather than fantasy or science fiction.

-- The epilogue explains the story, but the story should explain itself.

При завършването вие ще бъдете сертифициран Пермакултурен дизайнер, квалификация, която е международно призната от Пермакултурното общество. Вие също ще имате познанията и практическите умения, необходими за да можете веднага да започнете да проектирате и създавате пермакултурни проекти и устойчиви местности за вас и за другите.

Курсът ще се проведе в спокойната природна среда на нашия проект за общност в Южна България. С настаняване в къмпинг и вкусна веганска храна. Ще имаме и възможност да се разхождаме и релаксираме сред природата в околността. Ние сме извън регулатция, намираме се на 20 км от най-близкия град, и достъпът до нас от главния път е по черен път. Имаме компостни тоалетни, слънчеви душове, и електричество от слънчеви панели. В нашето място се яде вегетарианска храна и не се пуши.
Това е чудесна възможност да изпитате простия начин на живот, близо до природата и заедно да практикуваме пермакултура в действие!

Какво е Пермакултура?
Пермакултура е екологична система за проектиране на устойчивост във всички аспекти на нашия живот. Пермакултурата ни учи как да строим домове с естествени материали, как да отглеждаме собствена храна, да възстановяваме отслабени терени и екосистеми, да събираме дъждовна вода, създаваме общности, да се погрижим за отпадъците и още много. Думата „пермакултура” исторически идва от „перманентно земеделие” и се е развила до „перманентна култура” – това е да се живее леко, с минимален отпечатък на планетата, като се уверим, че можем да живеем в хармония с природата, докато поддържаме човешката дейност за много поколения напред.

Книга на ЧоБи = обичайните заподозрени. Не мога да изляза от смътно преследващото ме усещане за стигма.

Сетих се, че в „Амилова“ например има една сцена, в която татко обяснява на невръстната си щерка откъде идва социалното неравенство – докато я пази от палките на полицаите и веригите на протестиращи екстремисти на един митинг...

Отбелязвам си да проверя какво става с тая поредица. :)
