Kalin,
Thank you for submitting your story, "The Dragon and the Orange Juice", to Daily Science Fiction. Unfortunately, we have decided not to publish it. To date, we have reviewed many strong stories that we did not take. Either the fit was wrong or we'd just taken tales with a similar theme or any of a half dozen other reasons.
Best success selling this story elsewhere.

PS enjoyable--it was an almost for us.
Dear Kalin Nenov,
Thank you for submitting "Of the Meeting of Three Shadows and the Shadowless." Although I'm going to pass, I enjoyed it; it's mysterious and evocative. Please try us again when we read for Issue #3 next year.
Best of luck with this, and with your other writing projects.

Dear Kalin,
Thanks for submitting this story, but I'm going to pass on it. It's nicely written and I enjoyed reading it, but overall it didn't quite win me over, I'm afraid. Best of luck to you placing this one elsewhere, and thanks again for sending it my way. I look forward to seeing your next submission.

Dear Kalin,
Thank you for your submission to Penumbra. While I loved the voice and style of your story, ultimately I couldn't find a way to place it into the issues I'm currently putting together.
That being said, I would love to see more of your work. I invite you to submit to me directly at ZZZZZ@ZZZZZ.com.

Dear Kalin,
Thank you for submitting your story, "Seven Nights with the Sea," to Escape Collective Publishing. We enjoyed reading it. Unfortunately, it did not meet our needs and standards for publication at this time. So, although this is a rejection letter, I encourage you to submit to us in the future, especially with stories in this vein.

Dear YYYYY/Kalin,
I really enjoyed your story. I have passed it on to the next round of evaluation, where a senior editor will read and consider your submission. If you'd prefer to pull your story because of an offer somewhere else, please let me know. And thank you for a wonderful read.
Sincerely,
Heather Shorten Acquisitions Assistant Penumbra
Dear Heather, dear Editors at Penumbra,
Thank you for your response -- another very encouraging one.

Dear Celina,
Thank you for yet another great piece of news. I'm holding "A Story with No Moral" for Penumbra only. And my breath, too.
If time permits, I may submit a second Shakespeare-theme story, by another Bulgarian writer, next week.

We are honored that you considered our publication worthy to receive your writing, we thank you for the opportunity to read your work, and we regret that we are unable to publish it at this time. Please consider the numerical reality: that for each issue, we are able to publish much less than one percent of the submissions we receive.
Because we were particularly fond of your submission, very soon you will receive another email inviting you to submit different work for the next issue, so please watch for that. We wish you the very best of luck, we hope you will keep in touch, and we hope that we may continue to read each other.

Thanks for your interest in Fender Stitch. I'm sorry to say that XXXXX doesn't fit our immediate needs.
We will keep you in mind if we need a translation in the future.
I wish you the best in placing your story elsewhere.

Kalin,

Mr YYYYY,
Thank you for submitting XXXXX to
Redstone Science Fiction. We have decided to pass on your story.
This was a very interesting idea, and I agree that the translation
assistance helped. I would have thought that you were a native
speaker, for the quality of the prose. Ultimately, the story feels
unfinished.
We will reopen for submissions on February 1, 2012, and I hope to hear
from you again then.

Kalin Nenov,
We are adding another aspect to our postings that is separate from submissions. There have been so many compelling compression statements that we feel they should be shared. We would like to share your "cover letter compression statement" by posting it along with a photo. Here is the statement we'd like to use:Compression, to me, means:
Prodding at huge issues in few words. Then in fewer.
Leaving as many true readings as possible. Right, "true" readings. :)
Letting the reader take part in the writing.
...More or less.
So, in short, either send us a "no thanks" note or a "yes!" note. If yes, then please include a .jpg picture to appear with the compression statement and the url (to your personal website, blog, or other site) you'd like us to link with your name.
Again, this is separate from our consideration of your submission. We hope this new feature will be a way to help promote writers working with compression--and unfortunately, that's all the "payment" we can offer at this time: a day of "glory" on the Matter Press blog. In advance, thanks for your consideration of this request.
Best,

Thank you!

Dear Kalin,
Thank you for submitting your story, "Rondo for Death and a HItman, Wannabe" to Goldfish Grimm's Spicy Fiction Sushi. Unfortunately, we won't be able to publish it at this time. We enjoyed it, but it just didn't fit with our vision of the magazine.
Thanks for thinking of us and feel free to submit again in the future.
Best regards,
Matt & Brenda
Thank you for your submission. I found the quality of the writing very
high, but the story although described as three stories felt too
disjointed and the ending seemed weak compared to some earlier parts
of the story. I cannot accept this story on this occasion.

Kalin,
Thank you for submitting XXXXX by YYYYY for
inclusion in Nine. We have decided to pass on the story at this time. It
survived our very harsh first cut, which eliminates about 90% of all
submissions, but in the end, we didn't think the style of writing was a
fit with us. Good luck placing it elsewhere, and thanks again for thinking
of us.
Sincerely,

Hi, again, Kalin and Khristo--
If it is still available, we would be pleased to accept the story, "The Swamp,"
for inclusion in Third Flatiron Publishing's premiere anthology
on the theme of "environmental disaster." It is scheduled for e-publication
on June 1.
We liked the premise of the story and the way it goes against current
Darwinian themes. More like instant Lamarck. ;-)
If this sound good, please let me know, and I'll get back with a contract.
We'd want the e-rights for a year.
Thanks!

Dear Kalin (and Lyubomir P. Nikolov):
We really liked this one. If you and Mr. Nikolov are open to working with us on some line edits, we'd love to include it in the second issue of Unstuck, which will come out in November of 2012.
If that sounds good, let me know, and I'll send you our notes and questions soon after.
Best wishes,
Matt Williamson
